AP Exam Registration

Key Dates
Deadline for all AP Exams:
October 23, 2026, at 7:00 PM
Late Registration: October 23, 2026, at 7:01 PM, to February 26, 2027 (Late fee: $40/exam)

All students must register for AP exams online. Each student needs his/her own individual registration.

Directions for the Two-Step Registration Process

STEP 1: Access My AP Classroom at https://myap.collegeboard.org/login.

  • Students should log in to the My AP platform if they already have an account or create one if this is their first time registering for an AP Course, SAT, or PSAT exam.
  • Using the unique join code provided by the instructor for the specific course and section, students can register for their exams and gain access to AP course materials.
    • Join codes given by teachers are tailored to each course, teacher, and class period.
    • Students can also locate their join codes on the Total Registration Home Page Account History.
  • Students MUST indicate on the College Board website for each AP Course whether they will take the exam in May.
  • By default, each account is set to “Undecided,” so students must choose either “yes” or “no” regarding their intention to take the AP exam before the October 24th deadline.
  • Students should use personal emails and not their FCS email for their CB account.

Students must remember to keep track of their College Board account login details, as schools do not have access to student accounts.

STEP 2 Total Registration (TR): http://www.totalregistration.net/AP/111000

The College Board platform focuses on gathering exam order details from students and does not handle payments. Parents/guardians must set up a Total Registration account, choose the AP Exams scheduled for May, and finalize the exam payments.

  • Students should use the same account and login credentials they used last year
    • Existing TR account holders can find the “Do you have an existing Total Registration account?” Login Here link at the bottom of the page.
    • New students should create a TR account, which will be used in subsequent years.
    • Ensure that your student's personal information and email match the details in your My AP College Board account, not a parent's email.
  • Once inside the TR system, students select the exams they wish to take in the current academic year.
  • If you are taking an online AP course, look for the “Independent Study” under the teacher.
  • Students enrolling in year-long or second-semester online courses are required to register by October 23rd; all registrations submitted after this date will incur a late fee.

Exams are ordered only for students who complete ALL registration steps in My AP and Total Registration and pay all exam fees by the deadline.

  • Orders after October 23, 2026, @ 7 PM, will have a $40/exam late fee.
  • Cancellations after November 13, 2026, @ 7 PM incur a $40/exam fee.
  • $25 Admin fees are non-refundable.

For Students taking Online Courses (FVA/GAVS) or Homeschool Students

*Students taking online courses, whether year-long or second-semester only, must complete registration by the October 23rd deadline.
  • You will use the Join Code provided by your AP teacher to join AP Classroom for instructional materials. THIS DOES NOT ORDER YOUR EXAM.
  • You will register and pay for your exams through Total Registration, as in Step 2 of the General Registration Instructions.
  • You will use the 2nd Join Code provided by Total Registration to join the “Exam Only” section of the course in AP Classroom. THIS IS NEEDED TO ORDER YOUR EXAM. Select “Independent Study” for your teacher in Total Registration.
  • The College Board requires that all exams for Exam-Only courses must be ordered during regular registration, even if the course begins in the second semester. The $40 late fee per exam will be charged for any exam in Exam-Only courses ordered after the October 23, 2026, deadline.

Is there a late registration period, and what is the late fee?

Students registering for exams in courses that begin in August will be assessed a $40 late registration fee after October 23rd.  The College Board charges this fee, and the school cannot cancel it.  The school does not charge additional registration fees between October 24, 2026 and February 26, 2027.

Can I cancel my exam?

  • Regular registration students can cancel exams until November 13, 2026, without incurring a charge.
  • If regular registration students cancel exams after November 13, 2026, you will only receive a partial refund due to the $40 cancellation fee charged by the College Board.
  • You must log into Total Registration and request to cancel your exam.
  • The $25.00 administrative fee is non-refundable after November 13, 2026 for year-long AP courses and after February 26, 2027 for Spring semester-only AP courses.

Does the state of Georgia pay for one exam per student?

The state of Georgia will pay for one AP exam for Georgia public school students enrolled in AP courses in one of two categories:

  • Category One: Students are public school students who individually qualify for the College Board fee reduction (example: Free /Reduced Lunch). For these students, the state of Georgia will pay for one AP exam in any subject.  This excludes AP Business with Personal Finance and AP Cybersecurity.

OR

  • Category Two: Public school students enrolled in AP STEM courses who do not qualify for the College Board fee reduction may qualify for one free AP STEM exam.

    • Students enrolled in STEM classes will be allowed to take their first AP STEM exam at a reduced cost. Students taking only one STEM AP exam will still need to pay the administration fee of $25.00.
    • When students register for payment in Total Registration and they are taking a STEM course, they must select “yes” for the Special Waiver question.
    • Their registration will be placed in a hold queue to verify the STEM course.
    • Once it is verified, the exam fee waiver of $99 will be deducted from their fee invoice, and the registration will be released for payment.
    • Total Registration DOES NOT notify students that they may now proceed with registration payment.
    • Students need to go back into their TR accounts within 48 hours of initial registration to check on the status of their registration and make payment.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to indicate at the time of test registration that they are taking a STEM exam and select “Yes” to the Special Waiver question to receive the $99.00 credit.

** If you register for your one free STEM exam and do not sit for the exam, you will be required to pay the $40 cancellation fee charged by the College Board

Is there a reduced cost for students with financial difficulty?

Students who have applied for and met Federal Free/Reduced Lunch criteria will receive up to 2 exams free of charge. They may receive additional exams at a reduced rate.

  • When registering for exams, students are asked if they meet Free/Reduced Lunch criteria. If the student indicates that they do meet Free/Reduced Lunch criteria, the registration process is paused until confirmation of this information.
  • Families will need to provide their approval letter from FCS for the Free/Reduced Lunch program to the AP Coordinator at their school prior to the October 23rd deadline.
