11th grade info

Junior year marks a major milestone on the path to graduation and beyond. To be promoted, students must have 11 or more credits.

During 11th grade, students should:

  • Take the PSAT/NMSQT for a chance to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

  • Focus on strong academic performance, as junior year grades are critical for college and scholarship opportunities.

  • Begin or refine a college list and take steps to prepare for and take the SAT or ACT.

  • Continue building a resume of extracurriculars, leadership, and service.

At Denmark, juniors gain access to exciting opportunities:

  • Up to 4 excused absences may be used for official college visits.

  • Eligible students may apply for Work-Based Learning, gaining hands-on job experience while earning credit.

  • Juniors may also enroll in dual enrollment courses through the University System of Georgia to get a head start on college.

Junior year is about preparation, opportunity, and focus. With the support of counselors, families, and teachers, Denmark students are encouraged to challenge themselves academically while staying balanced and connected as they prepare for life after high school.
